I'm suddenly reminded of a Sailor Moon fanboy on Deviantart who was upset that, for a Sailor Moon-themed OC tournament, a huge majority of the submitted were female. His reasoning was that boys needed more male role models. Not "role models like Mamoru" or similar, which at least would've made some sense, just role models period.
