Because it just is, and doesn't try to be anything other than what it is? :)

It's also a live-action movie based off a fighting game that, while not exact, seems like it was written by people who actually played the game? (Looking at you, Street Fighter. Both times.)

Whoa, no, hang on. There is no universe in which it is possible to claim that Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist wasn't made by people who loved the game. That is the most provably wrong assertion in the history of assertions.
