True. I should have mentioned that Whittaker's five-kingdom classification had already been around for about 20 years, but nobody ever suggested that the two-kingdom system might be outmoded.

Oh. Well, that is an oversight. Monera are really very different from Plantae.

I guess I was in the same boat, actually. I didn't realize the "five kingdoms" classification dated to 1969.
