Why?
Are you anti-fusion or something lol.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-05 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
So THIS is what Homeworld thinks of fusion

A+ would LOL again, anon.

Same. Especially since Ruby/Sapphire is such an overtly romantic fusion, I can't see Garnet as anything other than a "pairing" now. Which bums me out, because I'm really not into shipping or romance on pretty much any level.

Personally

I kinda see her as being more of their child than anything else. I dunno if that's supposed to be how it's interpreted but idk

I just see her as a personification, albeit a very specific one for an individual relationship. It's not that different from Discworld, where the personification of Death is also a character in his own right with his own foibles.

Garnet herself states she's much more than their relationship when she sings. She's literally a personification of a relationship, not just a fusion of two people.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-05 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
garnet is her own entity tho, it just took two gems to create her

(Anonymous) 2015-09-05 09:21 am (UTC)(link)
I totally agree.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-05 09:53 am (UTC)(link)
I can kind of agree. I wonder how much of her is "her" or just Ruby and Sapphire every time I see her. Never mind that I don't really like Ruby and Sapphire (though Sapphire is the more bearable of the two), considering how both times they've appeared they're so extremely fixated on each other that they rudely disregard everyone else, almost to the point of it being unhealthy.

I haven't watched a lot of SU, but I'm really not sure if the show is very consistent when it comes to fusion: Individual in their own right Vs. weird form of multiples. But maybe that's the point, maybe it's different for each fusion idk.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-07 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
It depends on how compatible the two component gems are. When the two gems are incredibly compatible, such as with Garnet, you end up with an individual in their own right and the two personalities of the component gems create a third person. When the two gems are not compatible, such as with Malachite, you end up with multiple minds in one body.

So yes: it varies for each fusion because each fusion is made of different components with different levels of compatibility.
