I'd assume the OP of the secret felt it was more appropriation than queerbaiting.

I don't really understand why though. I thought part of supporting LGBT stuff in film was about being like "straight actors shouldn't be all grossed out by the idea of acting as gay characters." I remember that was a big reason everyone admired Ledger and Gyllanhaal in Brokeback Mountain.

Well, a lot of supposedly LGBT stuff in film that is with women is actually mostly about appealing to men and the male gaze. And that makes me uncomfortable. I don't know what the image in this secret is so I can't comment on whether it is something that is like that or not. But M/M stuff in film doesn't tend to be like that so it makes me personally less uncomfortable.

I would say there's about the same level of Not-Shit Representation for men and women in that regard, it's just that women also have another whole separate segment of Shit Representation that's layered on top of that

Because we all carefully craft our secrets and check for spelling and grammar and have them beta'd to ensure that no confusion could ever come from them? It's not as if any of us ever write a secret on the fly and submit it within a 5 minute span when the urge strikes us.

tbh I think the comm would be better if people did double-check their secrets. not necessarily have them beta'd because that kind of defeats the purpose, but double-check would be good, because some of them are kinda hard to understand.

don't get me wrong, most secrets are better than not having a secret, but I think double-checked secrets would be best.

I don't want my secrets to be easier to understand. My secrets are more often than not coded messages to other people in the know. It's hit'n'miss, but the reward is great when it's a hit.

Those would be careless mistakes whereas I think wording choices tend to be deliberate. It's not like we're in the kind of era where we have to say someone is "like that" instead of "gay" anymore. Nowadays it just sounds weird.

But I haven't seen anything about this shoot that's worse than the usual girls getting it on for the camera kind of stuff.

I have kind of a kink for straights being comfortable enough to queer it up, male or female, as long as they're not all "ew, as if!" about it, so personally I'm happy.

It seems very obvious to me that OP deliberately phrased it that way so that everyone would assume they meant "lesbian" when in fact they meant "kinky".
