Ehhh, I'm not that up to speed on it all, either. Apparently there was this fan who had a group of people convinced fictional characters were real in alternate dimensions, and they could affect these alternate dimensions by spending all their time imagining the fictional characters. Aaaand then it turned into RPF. IIRC, most of these people were in their 20s, which is. Like. They should have had waaaaaay more oversight/supervision, IMO, several years prior, and they might not have ended up that way.
