It is currently sunny! Which is great, because I have some plants that I just put in the ground that could use a little bit of sun before the fall weather kicks in. I'd like to have them nicely established before they're destroyed by cold.

I should really get out into the garden one last time for pruning and all that jazz, but I have no idea if that will happen or not.

I feel you. I still have apples and raspberries to finish growing, and that should be the last big harvest of the year. Most of the flowers are dead, tho' there are lots of rosehips, whether those will bloom before the frosts get too bad (or if they get to bloom before I harvest them for tea), I couldn't say. Had to deadhead most of my rosebushes already.

Apples

Hella gelatinous. I need to find some place that has apples or pears or something that I can steal to make more preserves. I managed a batch of blackberry jam, but I'm not sure how long that will last.

Berries are all done here, except the raspberries. You wouldn't be jealous of my Ent apple tree if you had to prune the thing, trust me. I only got one part done this year. It did increase the yield as promised, and the raspberry canes then propagated like mad in the cleared area. Which was a happy bonus.

Do you have much room in your garden? If I had my time back, I would have gone big, hired a backhoe, dug up one side of the property, and put in all mini apple trees. Since the Ent tree isn't cut back enough to allow for harvesting from the higher branches (can't get a ladder up), most of the apples go to waste every year. Plus they're Macs, so really only good for baking. Or applesauce.

I have a huge clear area of my garden that gets a ton of sun, but I haven't decided what to do with it. I also have a poor apple tree that got pruned so aggressively that it didn't produce at all this year. Sad little thing. I am pampering it back to health as best I can.

The neighbours seem to be having wild success with their raspberries so I might throw a few canes in myself to see how they do.

Well, if I were you, ton of sun = sunflowers. You can mix a few berry canes right in the same field, the shade from the flowers will help. Plus, sunflower seeds!

Funny, the Ent had hardly any fruit before I pruned it. But we had literally no pollinators around last year, so I planted pollinator-friendly flowers. Which seems to have done the trick. Unfortunately. *rueful look* Hate that the wasps are aggressive drunks this time of year.
