I'm so sorry, anon, that's awful. I really wish I could give you some advice but I'm not sure that I can. It sounds like an awful shitty situation and I'm sorry you have to go through this and it sounds like you've done everything you can and all you can do is hope that things improve even if only ever so slightly tomorrow. Which hopefully they will

Hugs if wanted

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline for the U.S. is: 1 (800) 273-8255. Tell her to call it. They won't lock her away, but they'll try to help her get better.

Remember that whatever happens isn't your fault. From what you're telling us you've done everything you could.

Since she's in Edinburgh, maybe the Samaritans can help? They're trained in dealing with this exact situation:

08457 90 90 90

And I'm sorry both you and your friend are going through this :(

Do you have any other contact information for her? Phone number, work address/number, that sort of thing?

Unfortunately even if you were to contact authorities, you would have to have some kind of information that would allow them to ascertain where she lives.

At this point, realize there is nothing you can personally do to "make her feel better". That is out of your control completely. She may simply be in a medical state where she requires intervention for physiological processes that are also beyond her control. You have no way of ascertaining this simply by texting her.

If you have any way of finding out how to contact friends, family, coworkers, or someone in her geographical area that can address this situation, that is the only action you can take.

What media did she tell you this on? If it was online most have ways to report a suicide to a person's nearest police station and help can be sent out. Normally in the help section of a site. Ie Facebook and tumblr both have this feature.

I'm sorry, Anon, that sounds like a really difficult situation. The Samaritans number, above, is a good place to start. I hope everything is ok.

That's terrible nonny... it seems you have her number... try calling the Samaritans as suggested (use Skype if you don't have much money/credit for international calls), and they will give you pointers. Or try calling police in Edinburgh directly... they can trace a number and pin it to a narrow location. Compile her threats into an email to send. Hoping you can help and/or she does not go through with it.

It's better to have treatment than be dead... I would absolutely make that choice for any of my friends over their wishes in this situation. I know from hard experience that medication is sometimes the only effective first aid. Good luck and hugs.
