Oh yeah, I meant "rip-off" in an affectionate way -- "good writers borrow, great writers steal" sort of thing. Building upon centuries of fantasy lore and folktales is not a bad thing. ;)

Well, even in an affectionate way, I guess I separate building on lots of lore/folktales and developing an idea that draws from it, from reworking a specific idea and giving it a new twist. I didn't think you were dissing them :)
