Yeah, that's the one I had a problem with. Sounded like what she wanted was a servant not a husband.

More likely a satire on what all too many men still want in a wife.

Except the song was all about what the man should do for her, not what she would do for him (except basically, sex if you've been good but only then.)

Exactly, she's basically subverting "the ideal wife" rhetoric and pushing onto men instead. That's the satire.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-08 11:53 am (UTC)(link)
That's... not satire. That's the 'Trophy Wife' archetype - the woman who does nothing around the house, but ooh aah, she might give blowjobs!!!

da

a trophy wife wouldn't served by her husband. the husband would never do her house work.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-08 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah that's giving her too much credit, cause the shrewish wife who has her husband whipped is already a longstanding misogynistic trope. There is nothing subversive about DFH.

sex if you've been good but only then

Ugh ugh ugh the withholding of sex trope, using your body as a reward/trade.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-08 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
But the kind of woman portrayed in the song is a sexist trope itself. It's the kind of woman red pillers and "men going their own way" bitch about and the reason they give for why marriage is bad for men.
