OP, that sucks. I think you need to speak to the department chair. It's one thing to tell the class to do ridiculous busywork, but it's another all together to say that it's because you're too lazy to grade things. He'll, I'm a college instructor, and even though I don't be paid for it directly (because I'm a part timer) I grade the assignments I assign because it's part of the job. Any professor who tells you that they're too lazy to do something needs an attitude check from their boss IMHO.
