dental hygiene

(Anonymous) 2015-09-07 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
So, I brushed my teeth today and when I went to floss, I noticed my tongue had this blue phlegmy film on it. I use Crest, which is blue, but it's never done that before. The only thing I can think of that was different is that maybe it had something to do with the ice cream I had eaten not too long before?

Is that a thing? IDEK. (Also, I hate that I'm in my 30s and floundering around how to brush and floss like I'm a child. There's a part of me that really wants to be all "One more way my parents failed to prepare me for life!" but it's not like I haven't had nearly 15 years on my own to figure it out.)

I would advise waiting a few hours to see if anything changes, maybe wash out your mouth again and see. Food can affect the tongue in all sorts of ways, and often it's very temporary. And yes, it can stain the tongue, and milk products can also affect your mouth sometimes.

Is there something specific you're having trouble with re: flossing and brushing? I've been pretty into dental hygiene since I was young, since my teeth have always been a bit troubled.

Was it all over the tongue, or just parts of it? Did you brush/scrape the tongue?

Did you use a mouthwash? Did you rinse well?

Dude, I got you:

Works wonders for getting rid of tongue gunk and it helps your breath, too.
