SA - but at the same time, I think a lot of people use that rhetorical device in a frustrating, non-productive way, and I completely get why people get angry about it.

Any useful, powerful rhetorical tool is just as useful to someone who wants to fuck with people as it is to someone who wants to change peoples' minds and improve things.
