90% I think that's what they want. Which is probably why a fandom is better off them.

They do. It's the same thing as someone saying that they're not doing their blog anymore or that they'll unsubscribe their followers who don't comment enough.

I'd say probably, generally if people really want to go they put up a post and /go/, if that

Maybe some people do want to be convinced to stay. I think if they really didn't care anymore they wouldn't make a big deal out of it unless they were involved in some fandom drama and it was unavoidable.

I admit, I feel that way sometimes. Like I get so frustrated that I need somebody to give me a good reason to hold on. It might be selfish but that's how I feel sometimes.

Well, you're not wrong...

I think this about anyone who makes a huge deal about leaving a fandom.

Like, okay. Bye. It's your life.

And this is why it's so hard to even talk about things that might be putting you off a fandom and driving you away from it. Sometimes it might be useful to talk and see if anyone else has solutions, instead of just having to leave outright. But there's this huge stigma attached to even talking about moving on, or why that might be happening.

I've never seen a single person I follow talk about why they moved away from a fandom they loved. They just left unexpectedly. It's exactly the attitude in the secret that makes it hard to discuss problems you might be having without being accused of being an attention seeker.

If I PM some of these people, they've opened up as to their reasons. And maybe talking about it wouldn't have stopped them leaving that fandom. But perhaps it might have. It might have been something easily solveable, but they'd seen too many others accused of being drama queens so they just left without word.

It's always the best and nicest artists and fic writers this happens to, as well, the ones with the strongest feelings of courtesy to others. They don't like to make a fuss, and then that fandom is down one amazing fanwork maker.

I gave a heads up that I was leaving so people wouldn't think it was suicide, my biggest concern when fandom people completely disappear.
