The former is too mundane for me to want to read about though. For me fic is about vicariously experiencing things I don't have or can't experirence, and I can get the former in real life so no appeal to me personally

I'm 100% with you Anon.

I don't dislike ALL forms of realism in my fic, in fact in many cases I like it a lot. But when it comes to the really, really mundane-but-realistic details of relationships, I just can't.
