I still don't buy it. I have written fics which were straight-up BAD porn with a popular pairings (including in canons that I had not watched) that are still giving me kudos (500 and counting in a 800-words bestiality one!) and gushing comments about how much I have captured their personalities (ahaha), overshadowed pairing fics with no smut get not even half of that.

Competently written, generic porn of the juggernaut pairings will get tons of kudos no matter the quality, guaranteed. Meanwhile, excellent gen-fic or rare-pair fic languish in obscurity. This is how fandom works.

Er, okay? I'm not sure what your point is here. Quality of writing is not a guarantee of popularity, just like bad writing doesn't mean a fic won't be popular. But it still makes more sense to work on delivering a good quality story instead of worrying about whether or not you've cross posted your fic to every single community possible.
