Part of the reason people were/are so rabid about it was the unrealized potential it had.

Like I said before, it's not usually a big deal for me when shows get cancelled because a lot of them fall under the same genre or cliches and there are a dozen other shows just like them currently airing. Firefly was definitely unique being a charming space western with an instantly lovable/interesting group of characters.

There was so much untapped potential. People wouldn't be so upset at it getting cancelled if it got maybe 2 or 3 seasons, but just one season where it barely got a chance to stretch it's wings is the real shame.
