You're far from alone. There is a corner of fandom that has more or less sanctified her and built a weird narrative around her, and they get rather aggressive when any part of their fanon is challenged by canon events and Word of God.

It's soured the character for me, which is a bummer because the poor girl's barely in the show and I do want to know what the deal is with all the Carla namedropping and her design being partially reused twice during Stan scenes. All we know for sure is she's a girl that Stan loved who broke his heart, but my money's on Stan idealizing and possibly misinterpreting their relationship.

I'm pretty sure we'll get answers though, possibly this season.
