I'm actually so sick of the Daddy Issues trope in fiction that it just isn't enough to make me sympathise for a character anymore, especially if it's used to justify why they're such a shitty person. And Miranda is a pain in the Butt Shot.

Don't get me wrong, I sympathise for anyone who has a terrible father in real life, I'm just tired of it being used in every fictional story ever. And Mass Effect really overused it (Miranda, Jacob, Wrex, Tali, James etc).

What's ironic is that Liara was the only character with daddy issues who was able to rebuild a relationship with her 'father' - who was female. :P

In theory, Jack's backstory was way more compelling, but I really didn't like her attitude and never could warm up to her. :(

I felt like 2 went a little hard on the "morally questionable" characters. Miranda's obnoxious, Wrex quite frankly scares me, Mordin's a freaking war criminal, Samara's a reasonable person following a completely unreasonable code, and Jack is . . . well . . . Jack. At least Garrus and Tali came back, even if Garrus went full Renegade.

How is she a shitty person? She's coldly efficient at times, but she's also a loyal friend (once her loyalty is earned) and thinking about her love for her sister makes me want to hold a pillow and cry.
