I went from thinking "Oh, she's interesting, and I think it's neat that the show is promoting a friendship/cute relationship between kids of two different ethnicities" to "Wow she's probably my least-favorite character."

Like she started out perfectly ok with me, and now I find her irritating. Idk if it's for the same reasons you listed, or just the fact she tends to complain a lot about being "normal" or whatever. It doesn't help that everyone in the fandom loves her.

I really want to like Connie but seeing how weird and messed up the rest of the characters are she's pretty boring in comparison :(

Same here. The gems are much more compelling to me, but then again it's because they're adults.

that's the thing, at the end of the day SU is still a kids' show. i take it that connie is, or was, supposed to be the (target) audience's stand-in, so what if the teens and 20 and 30 somethings watching don't like or relate to her.

In defence of the character getting overcoming the idea that she's nothing so quickly: she hadn't been told it for very long, and she had a very supportive friend in Steven telling her the opposite. I don't know your situation, OP, but I imagine it's somewhat different.

Either way, I'm sorry you've been hurt so badly and I hope you find some comfort and healing.

I hope you get a chance to learn to swordfight someday, anon!

Get into martial arts? It seems like you might feel better about it. I mean, swordfighting is rare, so I wouldn't hold my breath either, but other martial arts have a strong sense of achievement as part as their whole ethos.

It's hard to shift out of that mindset, I know, I'm suffering for it too, but I hope you make it and wish you all the best.
