Not OP, but OP is saying he/she is glad that RPF-ers are finally seeing what he/she has seen in Patrick Kane for years - that he's violent to women - and are no longer writing fic about him.

Patrick Kane is a hockey player. He's incredibly popular both in hockey rpf fandom and in the wider hockey fanbase.

Over the years, he's been reported behaving badly on a large number of occasions (including once having been arrested for assault - though not the incident the OP's secret talks about). None of this bad press appears to have dwindled fan adulation or the fact that a pairing featuring him is the most popular in hockey fandom (Kane/Toews).

Recently, the police began investigating an allegation of rape against Patrick Kane. This has finally turned the tide of popular opinion with fans and the media no longer colouring his behaviour as admissable due to his being very young, etc. (Note: he's 26.) There is now a lot less fanfic around and it has raised the question of whether or not Kane is a suitable face of the sport - with the NHL 16 game pulling him as their cover star being an early example of this.

At the moment, Kane's future is uncertain as the hockey season is yet to start for 2015-16 and the case against him not yet having been settled/gone through the courts. Time will tell whether or not the current investigation will have a long term impact on Kane's career and popularity.

Not in the fandom but I think a lot of people are in RPS fandom moreso for the fandom than the actual 'Real People'. They don't necessary want to look too deep into their character's life exept sometime for superflous details that serve fics and prefer the fandom adoped charaterisation of the persona. The cute interviews and talent is all that's needed for people to be fans, really. Also a lot of people suffer from... I'm not sure if bysander syndrom is the right term in situations like these: 'if he had done something wrong, people would know/call him out/dislike him' 'since he's so popular that thing that got mentioned must be wrong because otherwise people wouldn't like him'.
But yeah, I mean what you're feeling is normal? If that was your secret? Feeling good because you were right about something doesn't mean that you're happy about the situation.

Wow. You lost whatever point you had when you lumped in random other men you've heard bad things about and accused them of abuse crimes.

Internet gossip is not a good way to judge a person. You seem to be happy spreading gossip unthinkingly about people you've never met. Think about what that says about you as a person. Perhaps let the courts decide?
