Are you watching with Mark?

I feel kind of the same way about Riker. Not because he's a gross horndog (though I?I'm sure if hr were a woman he'd be lauded for being sich a shining example of sex positivity) but because *most* of the time, he's really one note. Not a lot of depth there.

I also can't stand Troi. No problem with Worf though.

Yup, it isn't that Riker is a horndog, it is that he's boring. He never seems to add anything that can't be done just as well or better with another character.

I think my issue with Worf is just that DS9 is my favorite Trek series and I feel like he clicked with the cast there better. And Worf/Jadzia is my OTP. So when I rewatch TNG I can't help compare him there to him on DS9.

Also, not watching with Mark. Not sure who that is. I'm on a Trek kick, so I'm rewatching all the series in order. Finished TOS and then moved on to TNG.

I don't think Riker's a gross horndog - and one of the better aspects of his character was the fact that though he'd had a thing with Troi, they were still friends and he was unbothered by her various relationships (I don't mind them ending up together, either).

But a lot of the time the scriptwriters seemed to have no idea what to do with him other than a not very interesting romance (or the really cringey moment where he ends up having to exchange sex for help escaping, and no-one on the scriptwriting team seems to have noticed that he was basically sexually abused, because hey, it's Riker and he loves the ladies....)
