54. Uhm, what? They're not. Oh, sure, there's furry guro, scat, snuff, necrophilia, etc. And while I have (luckily) yet to observe this first-hand, I'm also willing to bet that there's a lot of it. But, uhm, there's also a lot of non-furry guro, scat, snuff, necrophilia, etc. It's not as if all that stuff is unique to the furry fandom.

Well, if we're going to go by personal experience, all the times I've encountered one of those kinks it was in non-furry fic. Of course, I don't read furry fic, so that might not be saying much. *shrug*

Either way, I can exactly show you evidence, given that I stay away from that sort of thing (though I have a gut feeling that adultfanfiction might be a good place to start, or you could take a look at the various kink memes here on lj), but I see people on fanficrants or other corners of the fandom talk about those kinks mostly in regards to non-furry fandoms.

And even if that weren't true, it still doesn't mean much as far as this secret is concerned. Kinky stuff is only a fraction of the furry fandom, albeit the one that draws the most attention. A lot of people just like drawing anthropomorphic animals, without any sexual aspects at all, and they too get a lot of flak from the furry-haters this secret was referring to.

Okay. So it's less an issue of furries and more a question of my limited experience with the stuff (... most of which WAS AFF.net, but okay...).

Maybe you just tend to stumble across that sort of thing? *shrugs* I used to always stumble across certain kinks too, even though I wasn't looking for them. It was just a coincidence. Though I imagine the fact that furries are generally people pretending/wanting to be animals, and animals are, well, animalistic, those other kinks easily go along with the whole "untamed" or "savage" thing that wild animals tend to have. There is probably a lot of fic/art for it because that makes it slightly closer to actual animals, since they commit violence, defecate indiscriminately, and so on.

I mean, there are entire novels and comics that don't even mention furries that deal specifically with necrophilia, guro, scat, etcetc. I can even name one novel right now--Exquisite Corpse by Poppy Z. Brite deals with a necrophiliac with guro tendencies. And I could link you to various horrifying non-furry images at gurochan.net, but I think I'll let you discover that lovely place on your own.
