US version of Life on Mars

I sincerely wish I could. I was really miffed when I found out, and at that point, I hadn't even seen a whole season of it. Now that I've seen the entire thing, the idea of remaking it is just...mind-boggling and painful. Life on Mars is pretty much a perfect show. I think it suffered one bad-ish episode in the whole run. The writing, dialogue, characters, interaction, development, music (OH MAN THE MUSIC) was all phenomenal, as was the dynamic between John Simm and Philip Glenister. I don't think you can recreate that chemistry, and I don't know why on earth they're trying to, instead of just freaking showing it. It makes me sick to think that a US version will gain a bunch of prime-time fans who've never even seen or cared about the original when the original was so good. It's the sort of show I want to share with everyone, but I want to share the original, y'know?


Sorry, there. Just kinda...it's been bugging me.

On the other hand, if any good thing can possibly come out of it, maybe they'll reinterpret the Chamberwick Green thing. I thought it was hilarious, but it would be interesting to see it as something I actually recognized for what it was, like, say, Seasame Street.

...also, ironically enough, for the American version... both Sam and Gene are played by Irish actors. Why, US programing, why?
