Haha, yes. I pretend I'm a smoker on my LiveJournal when the truth is that I have never and will never smoke. But it looks so good!

I think smoking looks cool too, but I also feel weird about it cause I wonder if I only feel that way because of media conditioning? I hate it irl though, especially cause when I was a little kid my relatives used to smoke in the car with me with the windows barely open a crack... Its easier to like it in fiction when you aren't coughing at their second hand smoke.

I'm probably crazy, but I always found cigarette smoke really relaxing for some reason. I'd never smoke personally, but it doesn't bother me like everyone else.
But lol considering how so many people hate smokers to death, I'd never admit this off anon.

Yes. Ugh, what is it about smoking that is so attractive? I know it's gross but sometimes it just fits in with some characters and makes them badass/cooler, which is really a stupid sentiment, I know, but still.

I think smoking can look great, it's the visuals of it, I'm still trying to work out whether it's totally based on my previous exposure to "smoking is cool" propaganda, or how much of it is the being still but with the purposeful motion of arms, the whole physical sucking on a phallic object and blowing out smoke.

I don't mind smelling the smoke irl, and would even have a couple with beers if offered (showing my age probably), but I think it's actually pretty gross and stinks if someone has too many. Especially where they live, ugh.

Looks hot, but in reality your smoke is in my eyes and I'm coughing on it cause you're too fucking impatient to wait until you're out of the trainstation to light up you inconsiderate fuck.

Or building or wherever. Nothing like being at work too many hours, stepping outside and taking a deep breath of fresh air after being in recirculated air all day... and end up with a mouthful of secondhand smoke.

I support everyone's right to kill themselves however they want, so long as you're hurting only your own body.

It's been romanticized in a lot of movies (mostly old) and a lot of adverts. It's understandable. You understand the risks and don't like it IRL, but there's still that cachet...

It actually looks intriguing too. I have a folder full of smoking pics and you can see the love between the photographers and the cigarettes. You shouldn't need to look too far to find this yourself.

I have never understood how people can disconnect the two. I can't like images of people smoking sexy, because I find it so disgusting IRL.

This is interesting because while I think there is aesthetic value to someone smoking in some cases, I smoke sometimes (like, at parties, or during stressful jobs), and I don't really feel like all the anons above about smoking characters. Maybe to some of you it's really the taboo that makes it hot? especially since many of you seem to have really strong feelings against smoking.
