I really liked Fried Green Tomatoes and Romy and Michele... but basically everything else in that genre falls flat for me.

Beaches was a good novel though.

Favorite: Horror. And before you say Descent, that is actually one of my favorite horror films.

You've probably already seen some if not all of these.

Weird horror:
House (1971)
A group of Japanese girlfriends go on a trip together. I won't say much because I don't wanna spoil anything, and I recommend you don't read anything about it if you haven't seen the film.

Classic horror:
Suspiria
I was debating whether to put this on the list, but the friendship plays an important part and it's a good movie nonetheless.
Girl goes to a new school. Students get killed. The rest is history.

Typical horror:
Ginger Snaps trilogy
So two of these movies are actually about the bond between two sisters (1 and 3), but that still counts right? (Second movie is about making friends.)
Werewolves! Female empowerment! Campy creepy horror! Scary stuff! Incredibly dark humor!
The three movies are vastly different from one another, but feature the same two sisters. So if you end up liking either character, I recommend seeing all three movies.

90s horror:
The Craft
While I normally wouldn't call this a friendship movie... It's absolutely about the power of female friendship. Specifically, what happens when it goes wrong. Most of the movie isn't really scary, but the cool-factor makes up for it.

Gory scary horror:
Martyrs
This French film features extreme violence. If you can stomach movies like Saw and Hostel, this should be right up your alley.

trashy horror:
Jennifer’s Body
Don't knock it until you try it. Surprisingly entertaining.
A hot cheerleader turns demonic. Nerdy best friend tries to cope with the situation.

remake:
Carrie (2002 tv movie)
For a remake, it's pretty okay. Bonus surprise female friendship.

friendship forged in the heat of battle:
Silent Hill
Consider it a different entity from the games.

Friendship first, horror second:
The Moth Diaries
A new girl with a dark secret arrives at the protagonist's school. Lacking in the horror department, but features a few memorable scenes and well-written characters.

Haah I have seen everything on that list except The Moth Diaries.

Although Ginger Snaps is magnificent, I must say. And The Craft is one of the movies that got me started on horror in general.

lol I don't have the greatest taste in movies, I just watch basically anything labelled horror to see if something will succeed in scaring me (which it almost never does).

That said, I like to think my favorite horror films are the really good ones.
