Structurally, that's the opposite of true.

Half of the problem with Tumblr is that it's not at ALL compartmentalized, so there's no way to keep things within a community.

Reddit has separate subreddits for different communities, and that separation remains largely intact. Your description absolutely fails to match the facts.
