Writing Thread

Because we haven't had one in a little while and why not

Synopsis Thread

(Anonymous) 2015-09-15 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
For people who want to, post a synopsis of your work (for how long, basically the size of a tumblr ask) and other people can tell you if they're interested.

(Please, responders, try not to be an ass please. Please try to give critiques constructively and be positive and not be discouraging. We want to lift people up not make them feel bad. Just putting this here in case)

Nitpicking train *choo choo*

A synopsis or a blurb? A synopsis is a summary of an entire book, including the ending. I just want to be clear what you're asking.

Ahh right. Either one then.

Let me try

A scrapbook story told through government and private documents and news articles, telling the story about a world war, where all the parties involved had magic at their disposal. Everyone has a different idea of magic ethics and how and who should use it. Everyone likes to think they're the ones doing the right thing, but eventually its hard to tell who is.

Re: Writing Thread

I've been posting my old stuff to AO3 and I've been getting a fairly good response. I now want to post a fic for the only juggernaut pairing I've written to get some extra attention. The thing is that it was originally supposed to be 3 parts. I wrote the first 2 and it ends in a fairly satisfying place. But there are hints to the third part. I feel like I should wait until I write the third part. But, on the other hand, if I start posting, that should give me the pressure to write the third part (it's just been sitting there for months now) and if I post a chapter a week, I have like 18 weeks to write it.

But Yuletide is coming up and I want to write a big bang for a different fandom. I'm not sure what to do...

Short works

(Anonymous) 2015-09-15 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Seems a lot of people think short works can't be good, either because they personally just want more meat to their stories or because they think the vast majority of fic writers aren't talented enough to pull it off.

Personally, I think the second option is bullshit, so let's throw some love to short works! Post your favorite pieces here, let's ~2,000 or less.

Zombies and Social Media

One of my favourite recent short stories. It's an epistolary made up of Facebook posts during a zombie infection:
