Well yeah but, there's also the fact that you can't tell a story without hitting SOME tropes.

Well I suppose you could try but it would probably be a jumbled incoherent mess.

Which I guess is why knowing WHAT tropes is important. "some tropes are bad writing" , Well gee that doesn't actually help if you don't say what they are.
