Would the virus still be part of your scenario?

Yes, but maybe Cillian wouldn't catch it if he hadn't snuck out of the house and found the bodies. Jamie Bell says he's a carrier, but maybe he's no longer contagious. What does he really know about the disease, after all? He's just the test subject.

So I figure the military are still going to be searching for him, and will still kill anyone he's been in contact with, but the disease itself might be less of an issue if the movie played out differently.
