Ooooh yeah, I remembered the thing about Greenland in the tumblr tag. Yeah, I usually feel bad about it when someone makes a character for a country that has not been featured, and when it does, it's completely different to the character that the person created. Specially because you see that they had studied a lot to get to know the country.

On the other hand, "I hope my ship becomes canon" and people who are 120% convinced it's going to happen and negate what other people has to say is pretty annoying.

Remember when the dumber side of the fandom decided that fanon!Scotland was totally canon, even though there IS no canon Scotland?

So much lol.

I would assume Greenland is canon since the artwork for that image was drawn by Himaruya. As of yet the only character the anime invented is fem!Latvia.

That being said, I couldn't have gotten into APH if I just watched the anime. It doesn't cover half the stuff I actually enjoyed, and it really does sort of flanderize a couple of the characters. This isn't even touching on the dub...

Nyo Latvia does appear as a tiny little chibi head in the corner of one of the frames from the Nyotalia comic. http://hetavols.tumblr.com/post/47463225789/volume-4-track-19-i-was-overwhelmed-by-heroines - the very second frame. But yeah, giving her a full outfit, personality, etc, was all the anime.
