I never said he can't be adapted as a woman. I said it makes more sense to consider that a sticking point for Holmes than for a time-travelling alien whose species' schtick is entirely changing their physical form when fatally injured, up to and including canonical sexswap for several members of that species.

It's not a sticking point for me either way - I'd actually love to see a well-done female!Holmes adaptation - but imo it's less bizarre than people flipping out over the (fan theorized) possiblity of a female Doctor.
