The US has the second highest BMI of the world after Kuwait. Of the Western world it is shockingly prevalent in gun-related violence. It has a deeply, violently racist history. It is rightly notorious for its Christian religious extremism and export of virulently homophobic colonialist-minded missionaries. It is the country with the most power, and has bombed the shit out of more countries than any other.

That notoriety compared to other Western countries does garner a fair amount of attention; this doesn't mean that those shaking their heads at this think everywhere and everyone is like that.

Why don't they think this is all Americans? America has also the most widely exported culture, which gives Americans a voice all over the world about what America is like. Which, as you say, reflects a very wide range of people and geographies, if rather whitewashed.

It is hardly the same as the reverse.

I can't say anything to annoyingly entitled tourists; I think every country has those. Though I did witness a US tourist once insist to a Dutch tourist that "Holland" was the capital, and wouldn't take no for an answer.... jawdroppingly ignorant and arrogant. But that's one person right?

Links? The last I read, Mexico recently surpassed the US among OECD nations, and a number of other countries in the Middle East and Oceania were higher also. Obesity rates have actually been falling among American youth.

Ah, ok. Yeah, that's based on old data. Mexico passed the US just recently (it's almost par with it in the chart you posted, in fact), and that chart doesn't included a number of smaller nations that are higher than the US also.
