What was that thing again?

[personal profile] forgottenjester 2015-09-20 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
So let's say I've been trying to find a music video for a few days now and it's been bothering the crap out of me. Have you guys ever thought of something from your past; a smell, a video, a tune, whatever, and been unable to place it? And then it bothered the shit out of you? Well, this is the thread to tell everyone on FS about it. Heck, maybe someone will even know what you're talking about. If not, you still at least get to vent.

I'll post mine below since I want to hear what you guys have to say and I don't want everyone just replying to mine.

So the music video I was thinking about I know is from years ago. I don't know what the song was or even if it was good. I just know the video was fucking weird.

So what I remember is that this androgynous woman walking into either a pyramid or temple. I'm leaning towards pyramid. Inside is a large rave of only women. It seems cool and accepting. The main character then sees people hooking up and looks like she wants too as well but then catches something weird in the corner of her eye. One couple down a hallway looks upset and one member looks- well, odd. However, people block it off with a curtain or themselves so she simply turns around, unsure if to leave or not. BUT THEN! Shit goes down. All the doors and windows start to close. Panic starts to set in and some of the women at the rave turn into GIANT FUCKING SPIDERS and start trying to eat people. I don't remember if the main character makes it out or not.

The fuck was this? How do I remember the video and not the song? What? It annoys the crap out of me because I've asked all my friends and no one knows what I'm talking about. I'm starting to think I'm crazy because where did this come from? I know it has to be real but where in the world is it from? Who made the video? What was the song? Who sang it?

To make it worse, searching online has been fruitless because the internet just keeps trying to either give me healthy food or porn when I look for it. I don't understand either.

God, I haven't seen that video in years but I knew it right away when you mentioned the woman and the hallway. But yeah, you're not crazy! I remember and love it! =D

When I was around 12 or so, I found this radio station that I could only pick up on certain days and it played all kinds of music in genres I had never heard. There was one song in particular that I managed to tape onto cassette -- it was just a guy and his guitar, singing a slow, sad song about a midnight train. Not long after I recorded it, I of course mistakenly taped another song over it, so I didn't listen to it often enough to remember any particular lyrics or pick up any clues as to the singer or the title.

Then the internet was born, and I've spent time every few years searching for that song, listening to every song that has a title or any lyrics mentioning a midnight train, and I've never been able to find it. For all I know, I was wrong about the midnight train in the lyrics -- maybe the song just made me picture one in my head. Or maybe the radio station played some guy's demo tape, or he was playing live in the studio, and that song is actually impossible to find.

Oh that's so sad. I really hope you find it! That seems like such a sweet memory but at the same time so frustrating. Would it be possible to contact the radio station? Although, even if you did who knows if they have records of those things. I'm not sure if they do that.

mystery song and pre-rowkling harry potter b&w film?

Song:

I suppose it doesn't hurt to try again?

http://scribblemage.tumblr.com/post/51761205421/anybody-know-what-this-song-is

It came from a file called "LoveKills.mp3"

I still have to comb through the sample albums over at Amazon, and maybe try that livejournal community, but hey, if someone here knows it or something, yay.

Movie:

My mom watched, quite some time ago, a dubbed (so no clue about country of origin) black and white film that had a suspiciously close plot to Harry Potter but waaay before the books, to the point that when the Warner Bros. "Philosopher's Stone" movie was announced and there was merchandise and television advertisement spots, she thought it was a remake or adaptation of sorts.

It seemed to be kind of low-budget, and the "Harry Potter" was a young adult or older teenager, but he also had the forehead scar and had this evil wizard after him. And that's all I remember she remembers.

I do not know the song but I do know there are programs that are around that identify songs. That might be able to help you. The singer... almost sounds like the lead singer from Muse but I don't think so...?

As for the movie, you really got me on that one. Could you tell what ethnicity the people in the movie were?

Someone ran it for me through those song-identifying programs and came up empty.

Ethnicity of the movie: unfortunately, she could not pinpoint it beyond "maybe European?" At the time she watched it, she only watched it for a while before switching TV channels because it was boring her, so we're working with old memories of a partially-watched movie she didn't care much about at the time (and still doesn't, I'm the one who's all "omg this mystery, I must solve it!").
