Yeah, I've lived in a few different countries, but the UK is the first one I've been to where A/C just isn't a thing. I'm from a place that's much colder than the UK, too, so it's not just a temperature thing. To be fair though, you're right that the UK has a lot of "cool" summer days. For the most part open windows do manage the heat, but the lack of bug screens makes me disinclined to open my windows too often or too much. Even on the fourth floor we still get enormous spiders, as well as bees and huge long legged bugs that probably won't hurt me but I don't want in my bedroom lol
