Please don't do that, OP. When you're in high school, your late 20s sounds like a pretty reasonable timeline to become a successful, responsible adult but honestly, most people your age (and older!) are in the exact same boat. We're all struggling, and it's not always down to factors within our control.

People in their twenties don't seem to realize how YOUNG they are. Physically, it's adulthood, and it feels like it should come with all the trappings of adulthood: a good job with a decent income, a house, stable relationship, maybe a family, etc. That's totally how it worked for our parents and grandparents, right? Unfortunately, times have changed, and it's not that simple anymore.

Give yourself a break and dispense with the idea of arbitrary "deadlines" for getting your shit together. The way you get your shit together is one day at a time. Give yourself all the time you'll need.
