Food That Upsets You
(Anonymous) 2015-09-20 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)Like people who are lactose intolerant but say fuck it and eat ice cream anyways.

(Except where ice cream or whipped cream are concerned. I'm not a fan of either so they're not worth it)
Re: Food That Upsets You
But those lactaid pills usually do it for me. They taste nasty, but I don't get sick with milk products after eating a few of them.

What gets me is bell pepper and red onion. They are my favorite things. I grill them. I put them on sandwiches. I stir fry them. they go on hot dogs and hamburgers. I have gastritis. Usually I'm fine with my regular med and maybe something OtC. But sometimes I end up regretting the pepper and onion.

Sometimes I just miss it though. I usually try to drink only a half a cup or something, but occasionally I miscalculate and wind up with a headache and the shakes.
Re: Food That Upsets You
(Anonymous) 2015-09-20 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)I can basically have no sweets, and I'm the most sugar-loving person in the world. Cocoa is bad for me. Gluten-free baked goods have xanthan gum in them. Alpro stuff has soya beans. Jesus Harold Christ on the bike.
Recently had a really bad poisoning after having a gluten free cake, and am much more careful since then, though. *sighs*
Thankfully, I can still have e.g. popcorn in small quantities and dried fruit and coconut macaroons... but sometimes I find myself experiencing a horrible temptation to buy something like a piece of chocolate cheesecake with whipped cream and enjoy it before dying a horrible death.
Re: Food That Upsets You
Tomato is one of the things that gives me reflux which makes me sad because I love Italian food, and it's in everything.
Gluten I am no longer taking chances with. I have no idea how it went from something I eat constantly to something that triggers severe migraines, but I can't ignore it anymore. Sorry delicious gluten. :(
Re: Food That Upsets You
The one thing I really regret having to be careful with is grapes. I love grapes but cannot eat many in one go.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-20 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)I'm also that one that gets sick as a dog every time I eat pork and yet I love all sorts of pork products: bacon, ham, sausages. Especially sausages like chorizo, andouille, Italian sausage, kielbasa, and country sausage (what can I say? I'm southern at heart!)

Re: Food That Upsets You
Can't have caffeine as I have the slow metabolism gene, even decaf coffee, sometimes have a decaf anyway.
Sulphite intolerant, sometimes I have delicious sour dried apricots anyway. Also, I shouldn't really drink wine or beer. Etc.
Alcohol can make me pretty depressed the next day.
If I have too much sugar I get the high and then the looooow. Since I'm at statistically high risk of type 2 diabetes I need to not do this, I'm getting better at it.
I used to have a nightshade allergy but thankfully that seems to be getting better since tomato and potato products are not only delicious but everywhere.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-21 01:05 am (UTC)(link)I just eat it anyway and head home fast tbh
