I understand you OP - in 2006, when I have tried to play it - it has been way advanced for my PC and had to use various cheats for it to even open - play I did ... without cutscenes as they have been white screen for me. I have not minded the inventory system or controls, loved the gameplay besides as others above have said - repeating maps and levels. The search for notes, ugh.

Then I watched various Let's Plays of it ... and it still is my fav not fully played game because of symbolism and lots of psychological connotations. The sad thing is that fandom is dead xD, for any Silent Hills besides number 2 and Homecoming where we had Pyramid Head ... I found him not interesting, well a part of James... so ugh. Number 3 I played fully and I love Heather, she is someone who works for an undercover UNIT/Torchwood like organisation for me in the future... too much headcanon.
