(Anonymous) 2015-09-21 03:06 am (UTC)(link)True. It's frustrating from both ends. I'm tired of Tony being in damned near everything, and everything revolving around him in everything he's in. OTOH, if he actually didn't get everything back by the end of the movie, that would at least be something new with the character.
I'm still ticked that the third Cap movie got turned into Avengers 2.5: Iron Man 4 in the first place. I was really wanting a movie focused on Cap himself, Bucky, Natasha, Fury, Sharon, Sam and SHIELD, the characters and important organization from Cap's franchise in the comics.
I can understand why they did it, going up against Superman vs. Batman, and it's a coup for Marvel that they got WB to back down in that game of chicken. It's also a good strategic move in case it doesn't do as well as expected; they can just blame that on it being a solo franchise movie and those generally not doing as well as the team movies.

Iron Man got a movie where he spent half of it brooding off on his own!
But Cap can't even get one lousy movie to himself. Sheesh.
If only they invested more in the quality of the stories and not just in pissing contests with DC. They're winning by a mile anyway, it's not like it matters :|

(Anonymous) 2015-09-21 05:25 am (UTC)(link)I would like to see more of Steve and Bucky and their issues, too. Maybe we'll get at least some of that. Sam seems to have a generous part, so there's that. It would also be interesting to see the movies address some of the darker side of the super-soldier serum and Captain America's legacy, like William Burnside or Isaiah Bradley. Or hell, if they can make Ant-Man, Rocket Raccoon and Groot work as characters, I bet they could make the Serpent Society work, maybe as experiments gone wrong.
And well, I didn't mind the SHIELD stuff in TWS because Steve has pretty much always had close ties to SHIELD in his own comics. From what I've heard, Hawkeye was supposed to have a cameo in TWS, but actor availability didn't allow for it.
I'm not impressed with the dick-measuring contest with DC, either. DC does not have a good track record with making good movies. I also like Marvel's single character franchise movies more than the big Avengers movies. I've heard interesting things about Doctor Strange, and am looking forward to Black Panther thanks to Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaue in AoU.
