Is liking them (the characters) that unpopular? Cuz I bowed out DW fandom basically because of all the flailing being done over those characters, esp Amy and Rory, and folks really not wanting to critique them cuz it was just assumed you disliked them because you hated Moff. So I'm actually curious how attitudes have changed in fandom since I last was active.

Doctor Who fandom is much the same. Depending on what space you're in Moffat is either God or the Devil. The Doctor is horrible or wonderful. The side characters clever or contrived.

People are still justifying their ragging by saying they love the show, it's everything about it that needs to be different
