Re: What's good, F!S?
Coming from last week where I had someone essentially tell me to prepare to lose all of my "normal" friends when I start using the wheelchair, I am really fucking relieved.
Now I feel like a jerk, because I know my friends aren't dicks about important things, most of them time.
I'm happy I can make plans to catch up with people that I now have a way of keeping. Yes I can come see your band play.

Are you some sort of cult leader. Idk what is happening here.
She seemed nice at first, then batshit insane, and now back to super friendly.
It was just horrible timing because I was having those thoughts myself and she made them seem a lot more real.

*hugs*
Going by like a law of averages, some disabled people have to be complete assholes, right? They're not really flawless. They're people.
>_> never tell tumblr...
Re: What's good, F!S?
Ahaha, your secret is safe with me. We can know the truth and hold it secret together. If it makes you feel better when I was younger I got wrapped up into Deaf politics, more of as a watcher. No one came out of it looking pretty. People are people no matter their differences.
Re: What's good, F!S?
I don't want to be political. I am the worst at saying the right thing. I hope nobody expects me to have smart sounding opinions about disability because I have the chair now.

I feel bad for her, but at the same time I'm not sure I really want to be her new bff either. Bitter is probably the right word.
Re: What's good, F!S?
Anyway, fuck that person.
I'm glad your friends are being cool, but they should be!
I wish you luck with everything! It's good you'll have more freedom now. (Enjoy yourself!)
Re: What's good, F!S?
I am having fun trying to teach myself how to do wheelies. I can get up on my back wheels and sort of roll forward but I can't hold it for long. Still not bad for my first full afternoon in the chair.
Idk if that was their experience personally, if so I guess I feel bad for them, I just think it wasn't a nice thing to hear when I was already worried about it. It's just awkward now because she was all "I will be your new friend when all your old friends inevitably leave you" and I am so filled with nope at the idea of meeting this person IRL ever.
Re: What's good, F!S?
I'd say that's downright impressive for your first full afternoon! Don't rush yourself too much, I'm sure you will eventually master the art of wheelies; it will probably take time and dedication, lol.
Ughhh, see, if she experienced that personally...that's terrible, seriously terrible, but you don't go saying that to someone else. Your experience isn't everyone's experience, and there's no need to freak someone else out about something that's already stressful when you have no way of knowing how it will go. Her friends are not your friends, and you don't need to expect the worst in people, especially when those people are ones you care about! (I mean, sure, everyone fucks up sometimes, but 'I got burned, so I'll ruin things for you' is not a good way of going about things.)
Re: What's good, F!S?
I won't feel skilled until I can climb stairs and hold a wheelie going down a hill. I've seen it done on youtube, so I know it's possible.
I already have blisters because I can't stop.
*cough*
I mean... yes, time and dedication. Good plan. I will do that.
Re: What's good, F!S?
Awwww, she's a good friend.
I won't feel skilled until I can climb stairs and hold a wheelie going down a hill.
Whoooa, that wheelie sounds hardcore! I'd be scared out of my mind then wipe out, but I'm going to assume lots of practice was involved, lol.
Re: What's good, F!S?
I'll try not to be the first person to end up needing a wheelchair after having an accident in a wheelchair. :/
She is a good friend. I'm lucky.
Re: What's good, F!S?
Huh, I didn't think of it that way. I suppose that makes sense!
But yes, try not to get in any accidents! Have fun, but not TOO much fun, lol.
