Scott has some of the more traditional "mom" traits, this is true. He is also, sadly, completely terrible, and he was a huge asshole to Derek in season 2 (after which most pack mom Stiles stuff was written.)

Derek was also a huge, uncommunicative asshole is season one, so why would Dcoot want to start having anything to do with him in season two. I mean.
