I saw a nice post once that broke down the history of gender bending a origins and how it has changed over time. Wouldn't know how to refund that post again as it was a reply to someone being angry over gender bends I think.

I'll have a look around when I get home, pretty sure I liked or reblogged it but it was awhile ago. But it was quite ah interesting post thread I think.

Found it through throwing a bunch of vaguely recalled phrases into google! the one I saw had more back-and-forth discussion but it's a big post and i'm too tired and cranky to go through and find the exact set of discussions i saw
