I am not in the least a Whedon fan, and I think anyone automatically connecting 'Whedon' with 'feminism' or even 'developed and nuanced female characters' is out of their goddam minds (have they SEEN Firefly? Dollhouse?)

BUT.

What sucks about MCU and what makes this Nat thing seem like such a problem is that she's basically the only female who gets much of a role. When you have one main female character, she has to somehow manage to 'represent' ALL women? Impossible! (I know Pepper is in MCU but let's face it, she's...yeah.) If we had a range of female characters, one who was angsty, one who was happy, etc, they'd be flailing like tumblr does regularly about Steven Universe. It's not Nat's fault. It's the fact that we have so few females actually in the spotlight at all that it's impossible to create one that's well rounded, believable, AND represents women. We're just too varied and awesome to be boiled down to one!

Oh, NICE slam against Pepper right there. And yet in the same post you are advocating that the MCU needs more females in the spotlight that are "well rounded" and "believable." What, you think Pepper's not well rounded and believable? Guess again. She is varied and she is awesome, and she is also FLAWED. As we all are. So who the heck are you to say that Pepper, or Jane, or Betty, or any of the other so-called "lesser" females of the MCU are in fact, lesser?
