I thought it was nice, seeing a more vulnerable side from her as opposed to previous movies which had her mostly playing the part of the femme fatale. Just because a female character demonstrates some softness and vulnerability, doesn't mean she's weak.

Honest question: how many MCU films have you watched? Because I agree with you that Natasha mostly plays a femme fatale in Iron Man 2. In The Avengers and The Winter Soldier, though? Really not. (And, perhaps not coincidentally, she demonstrates vulnerability in both of those films, as well.)
