Hm. Maybe. I just think it sounds extreme in relation to a fictional character, but you make a good point.

If it was a reaction to, oh, coming across something here, say, then I would agree with you. Even replying to something here. But in making the secret they are, with forethought, deliberately sinking themselves into something they despise. I don't know about you, but I am terrible at making secrets and it always takes forever. It's not totally unreasonable that by the time they've thought about what they want to say and what they want as the background, they were a bit on a hair trigger.
