Fake it till you're all hollow inside, but remember that you did it to yourself.

Then why do you do it? I know if it was me, I'd lose interest fast if most of the stuff I was seeing wasn't funny or wasn't good.

I'm thinking this was more of a humble brag about the number of followers. Spoilers: don't care.

Maybe it's difficult to switch ownership?
I remember I was in charge of a very popular forum and I grew sick of the fandom after awhile but I only stayed on because I didn't want to abandon all the work to the co-owner.

There wasn't really another candidate to replace me that knew how to do the stuff I had to deal with, so I ended up just being miserable until I felt I finally met someone who had an interest in taking over for me.

If the blog OP is talking about is really big then it might be something similar.

OP

It's two different cases:

For one of them, transferring ownership would be difficult. The blog centers around a persona, and a very tight system. I'm pretty protective of this blog, since it was my first sideblog (really, my first blog, since my main blog was just an empty tin at the time). One day, I might transfer ownership, or put it out to graze, when I just don't have the time to run it. While I have the time, it's still my baby.

For the other - I probably should/could open up admin spots. Actually, I think I will, thanks to some of the responses to this secret. I still love my followers, though, and I love interacting with them on this blog - this is the only blog, of my main blog and side blogs, where people really ~talk to me. I like it, it's my relaxing, end-of-the-day place. Even if I don't find the content funny, I find running the blog /fun/. Which is enough for me.

If I sounded miserable in my secret, I didn't intent for it to come off that way. Whether or not I find the content funny, I still like certain aspects of running these blogs.

Why do it, then? It seems a shame to put the work into it if you're not enjoying yourself.

As an aside, I generally find that submissions are lower quality in general, no matter what type of blog it is. I blacklist 'em. Some of your followers probably wish you were more discriminating.

To be honest none of those blogs in my fandoms are funny either. It's the same shit over and over or just recycled memes. I keep trying to block those blogs but they always keep popping up, I swear I have over 100 blocked by now...
