I'm sick of the way the general Sailor Moon fandom views the original musicals compared to the new ones, either trashing them for being "old," or acting as if they never existed at all.

If it weren't for them, you probably wouldn't have the new ones!

The Sailor Moon fandom doesn't know what it wants most of the time("make an anime more like the manga NO I HATE CRYSTAL BAWW"), so you can pretty safely ignore it. The cheesiness is part of the charm, as are the enormous costumes!

I haven't seen all the Myus myself, but I'm working through the back catalogue and I'm up to Last Dracul. What about yourself, OP?

I've seen everything from the first one all the way through the Dracul arc. Still intend to watch the Marinamoon shows one of these days! And maybe I'll watch the new ones once the hype for them dies down.

I've actually never really seen the old musicals get trashed. To me it seems like they just get ignored aside from the Myu fandom.

Depending on how much stage time the character has, they often used two girls as Chibi Moon (one for the first act, and the other for the second act) because of very strict child labor laws in Japan. Even the new shows do this.

They're doing a new musical? I haven't seen much of the first but that seems really cool.

Really? I have an immense love for the old musicals, but then musicals in general are my jam I've seen most of SeraMyu multiple versions of Rose of Versailles, most of the SakuTai Ksyou shows.. I even watched one of the HunterxHunter ones and I've never seen the anime for that.
