Coming up this Sunday, I'll be starting a ReBoot marathon via livestream. I totally cordially invite you to watch one of my favourite series of all time ever from beginning to end!

Now what is this "ReBoot", you didn't ask? For a bit of history, it's a Canadian CGI animated series, and the first such production of this scale to be produced at the time ('94 or something). The show itself takes place inside a computer system, but imagined as a city called "Mainframe" and populated by people named after various computery compenenty things. They live, they love, and they are little shits glitches sometimes. Being inside a computer though means that somewhere, out there, beneath the pale moonlight, some idiot User is out there and totally not thinking of them, and loading these devastating games that lay waste to their land.

Well, that would be what happens if this weren't a show with a cool anti-virus Hero Guy helping this town beat that User at their own game. Literally. Man that User sucks at the video games. Also, there is obviously a virus Villain Guy. That too. But not that important until plot arcs.

I haven't watched this series since it aired, so join me as I cross my fingers and hope that what I remember to be a very good cgi cartoon still holds up to my rose tinted prescription lenses version.

That's this Sunday @ 6PM EST/10PM UTC
I can't get through the series in one night ofc (I'm not ridiculous), so I'll continue where we left off every second Sunday from then on. Cheers o7

ReBoot~~! :D

I tried to watch it again sometime ago, but unfortunately I can't understand Megabyte's English voice actor. :(

There's always subtitles if it gets that mangly :D
His va Tony Jay kinda reminds me of David Kaye's Megatron (such a fabulous fab one at that) though, where they both kind of sound like they were put through a Sean Connery filter, with Jay being the more breathy/raspy one.

ayrt

yeah, I'll give it another go with subtitles when I'm ready to revisit the series

Is there no stream Saturday?

I see there's Reboot on Sunday, but nothing Saturday. Is it up for grabs? I'd be happy to take over the slot this week.

IDEAS

[personal profile] chardmonster 2015-09-25 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
I have a few things.

I could do show A New Hope and The Star Wars Christmas Special, but only if I can generate a bunch of interest.

I COULD show my tape of the top secret Mormon Temple Endowment Ceremony, a high quality cell phone spy video a teenager in Salt Lake made. It's notable for an incredibly campy Genesis play featuring an even campier Satan. I could pair that with a bootleg of the Book of Mormon if I can find it. Mormon Bootleg night?

I have that Les Miz movie--the musical. Was that ever streamed?

There's a lovely erotic movie about lesbians and moth collecting called The Duke of Burgundy.

We've got options is what I'm saying.

I like the part where you said you wanted to show Heathers. Man, remember how good Heathers is? That movie is fantastic.

Serious answer: personally, I would be most interested in one of the more conventional options rather than Mormon Bootleg, but that's just me. Any of them sound good.

Mormon Bootleg would be the preshow, if you will. And it's more entertaining than you think I assure you. I'm not saying that in a mean way.
