TKJ would be so much better if not for what happened to Barbara. It was just so unnecessary :(

While I think the depiction of that incident in that book was awful, I kinda disagree -- I thought that having her be paralyzed was AMAZING for her character, made her a really interesting, unique, and inspiring character who wasn't just another Batman sidekick and who was very unlike anyone else in the DCU.

I wasn't crazy about how it happened because it was so throwaway and unnecessary for the plot of the Killing Joke specifically, but still, talk about making a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

I'll admit that Oracle was a major boon for the DCU (and let's be real, a disability superhero icon) but that's mostly because of John Ostrander and Kim Yale rescuing the character from the fridge that Alan Moore and Len Wein put her in.

My liking her as Oracle doesn't mean I can't hate TKJ.

Wait, I thought Alan Moore intended The Killing Joke to be non-canonical though? Like, he didn't think that the stuff he had happen in TKJ would be carried into the main DCU? Especially given the ending of that story.
